What’s On The Horizon For: Noida International Airport
Speaking during Routes Asia 2025, representatives from Noida International Airport spoke about its plan for launching enhanced air connectivity across the Delhi-National Capital Region.
Noida International Airport (DXN) is a new greenfield airport in the Delhi-National Capital Region which will have the capacity to handle 12 million passengers annually within its first phase. With confidence that operations will commence this year, it is aiming for four phases of growth to eventually lift capacity to 70 million per year.
Developed by Zurich Airport International, DXN seeks to combine Indian hospitality with Swiss efficiency. Speaking at Routes Asia 2025 in Perth, Chief Operating Officer Kiran Jain said: “The experience we plan to bring to our passengers is tied to what we call Indian hospitality. This comes in the form of the structure, design and architecture alongside the seamless passenger experience.”
Passenger needs are central to all planning decisions, Jain said, as the airport works in collaboration with a range of stakeholders to ensure a smooth operational launch.
Opening a new airport in an already served metropolitan market presents challenges, DXN acknowledged. The airport is working closely with the Indian government to align with national foreign policy goals and intends to build a network comparable to that of nearby Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). Once that baseline is established, DXN will pursue opportunities to connect with unique and long-haul destinations.
Strategically positioned in the rapidly growing Delhi-NCR, DXN is expected to play a key role in driving economic development by improving regional connectivity and supporting residential and industrial expansion.
At Routes Asia 2025, Surabhi Rana, head of air service development at DXN, noted strong industry engagement. “We are seeing so many airlines and airports — our schedules are packed — so it’s a very encouraging sign,” she said.
DXN regularly utilizes the features within its Routes 360 membership to provide the route development community with updates on the airport’s operational launch plan with Rana adding: “Routes 360 has helped us publicize new developments, which markets we want to connect to and other important information which is needed by the airlines and wider aviation community. We feel this is a major influencing factor in our communication to airlines.”
