U.S. ULCC Frontier Airlines is opening five routes this week, including three from Atlanta and two from Puerto Rico.

The airline has said it is increasing departures from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) by 40% this year versus 2024. On May 22, the carrier kicked off service between ATL and Oklahoma City Rogers International Airport (OKC), followed by the May 23 opening of flights between ATL and Kansas City International Airport (KCI), Missouri.

The ATL-OKC route will be flown 3X-weekly, while the ATL-KCI service will initially be operated 3X-weekly and then drop back to 2X-weekly in June.

From May 24, the all-Airbus A320-family operator will commence flights between ATL and Oranjestad, Aruba. That route will be flown 1X-weekly.

Frontier will compete with Delta Air Lines on all three of the new routes from ATL, Delta’s home hub. Frontier will also compete with Southwest on the ATL-KCI route. The three new services will bring to 52 the number of routes it operates from ATL.

The Denver-based carrier on May 22 also launched service between San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Washington Dulles International Airport. The route will be flown 3X-weekly. Frontier opened a crew base in San Juan in 2024.

From May 24, the carrier will open service between Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, and Miami. The route will be flown 1X-weekly.
